ABOUT THE ROLEThe Senior Product Manager for Accounting & Payments owns the strategy, development, and launch of the financial backbone of our platform — the accounting engine, transaction mapping, reporting, and payment processing that our cultural institutions rely on to run their operations and trust with their money.This is a domain-heavy role. You will translate real accounting and payments problems into clear product decisions, working at the intersection of finance logic and software. You serve as the key link between engineering, design, finance stakeholders, and customer support, ensuring the product is correct, reliable, compliant, and commercially valuable. Because this product touches our customers' financial data and revenue, precision and judgment matter as much as speed.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIESStrategic WorkDefine and communicate the long-term vision, strategy, and roadmap for the Accounting & Payments product area, balancing financial correctness with usability and revenue impact.Conduct market and competitive analysis to identify opportunities and trends across accounting platforms, ERPs, and payment processing.Drive feature prioritization based on customer needs, financial-correctness risk, business impact, and revenue potential.Monitor product performance through KPIs and iterate based on customer feedback, reconciliation data, support cases, and market insights.Ensure product requirements align with accounting standards, security, compliance, and payment-industry requirements.
Tactical WorkCreate and maintain high-quality functional specifications, user stories, and technical documentation that engineering can build from without ambiguity — especially for journal entries, posting rules, and reconciliation logic.Develop prototypes with Product Design grounded in real customer cases to validate direction before build.Track development progress, monitor timelines, and ensure timely, correct delivery of features.Review customer feedback, support cases, and reconciliation discrepancies to identify bugs, enhancements, and improvement opportunities, and classify them accurately.Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, design, marketing, sales, customer support, security, and compliance to ensure alignment and remove blockers.
REQUIREMENTS
EducationBachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Economics, Accounting, Finance, Marketing, or a related field preferred — we care more about how you think and execute than about your specific major.
Experience4+ years building and shipping products in a product management role, ideally with exposure to financial, accounting, fintech, or payments products.
LanguagesEnglish B2+/C1 required. Must be able to run client conversations and meetings end-to-end independently.
Domain Expertise — Accounting & Payments (Required)
Accounting fundamentalsChart of accounts & account nature: Solid understanding of the chart of accounts and the nature of each account — assets, liabilities, revenue, expenses — including cases like deferred revenue, contra-revenue, and cost of goods sold.Accounting methods: Command of both accrual and cash methods, with the judgment to know when each applies depending on the transaction or product type.Revenue recognition: Understanding of when and how revenue is recognized, including how deferred revenue is held and moved to earned revenue once the performance obligation is met.Accounting mapping of transactions: Ability to translate business events (sales, refunds, donations, etc.) into double-entry journal entries, ensuring debits and credits always balance.Accounting reporting: Familiarity with financial reports and their documentation for different audiences (finance, accounting, administration).
Product & technicalAccounting configuration in systems: Experience configuring charts of accounts and posting/booking rules in financial platforms or ERPs.Data quality & reconciliation: Ability to identify and resolve inconsistencies, imbalances, and posting errors, and reconcile against external sources.
Domain Expertise — Accounting & Payments (Preferred)Disputes & chargebacks: Knowledge of the chargeback lifecycle and its accounting treatment, including the difference between disputes before vs. after a service is delivered, and how associated fees are handled.Nonprofit accounting: Familiarity with fund accounting — restricted vs. unrestricted contributions and their accounting treatment.US GAAP: Grounding in US GAAP to support the treatment of revenue, refunds, disputes, and special cases (gift cards, inventory, etc.).Payment integrations: Understanding of how payment processors operate.

Nice to HaveExperience working in the cultural sector.Hands-on experience with Agile methodologies.Experience with payment processors (e.g., Adyen, Stripe) or ERP integrations (e.g., Sage Intacct, QuickBooks, NetSuite).
KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORSOn-time delivery of roadmap commitments.Feature adoption rate post-launch.Customer satisfaction / NPS for the Accounting & Payments area.Accuracy of financial output (correct journal entries, reconciliation match rates, reduction in posting/reconciliation discrepancies).Bug vs. enhancement classification accuracy and resolution time.Velocity and planning accuracy in collaboration with the team.
