Job description
Scimax Consulting is hiring Protection & Control Field Testing and Commissioning Engineers at multiple experience levels to support high-voltage substation projects. This is a remote-eligible, travel-heavy field role requiring travel up to 80% across transmission, distribution, and generation environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Test and commission Protection & Control systems at high-voltage substations.
- Perform protective relay testing using Omicron CMC 256/356 or Doble F6150 equipment.
- Test relays such as SEL-311L, SEL-387, SEL-487, SEL-421, SEL-351S, GE L90, and GE D60.
- Conduct control scheme testing, CT/PT circuit verification, relay calibration, and static and dynamic testing.
- Support project leads and field supervisors on active projects.
- Complete Job Hazard Analyses and follow all site safety requirements.
- Interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and logic diagrams.
- Record test data accurately and prepare formal field reports.
- Handle project administration, including timecards and expense reports.
Qualifications
- Proven hands-on experience testing protective relay equipment at high-voltage substations.
- Experience with relay test equipment and protection systems used in utility environments.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and logic diagrams.
- Willingness to travel up to 80% for field assignments.
