Job description
About the role
Newport Healthcare is seeking a Psychiatrist to provide psychiatric care for clients facing mental and emotional challenges. The role includes routine and emergency assessments, diagnostic clarification, treatment recommendations, and care coordination before and after discharge.
Responsibilities
- Oversee clients’ psychiatric care.
- Attend weekly Treatment Team Meetings and collaborate with the Director of Operations, Clinical Director, and other treatment team members.
- Document patient encounters through weekly progress notes in the EMR system, as well as safety assessments and calls with parents.
- Assist with utilization reviews and provide cross-coverage to the Psychiatry team when needed.
- Communicate with clinical team members, outpatient providers, and family members.
- Complete discharge recommendation assessments for collaborative discharge summaries within 24 hours.
- Maintain the requirements of Physician Collaborative Agreements, if applicable.
Requirements
- Doctorate in Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) required.
- Board Certification in General/Adult Psychiatry required.
- Board Certified in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry strongly preferred.
