About the role

The Recreation Leader I – Parks/Grounds position assists with the general maintenance and upkeep of parks, green spaces, and other recreational properties throughout the City of Valley. This hands-on, outdoor position focuses on keeping city parks clean, safe, and well-maintained.

Approximately 15–20 hours per week. Scheduling can be flexible; morning availability is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Pick up trash and debris throughout city parks and recreational areas.
• Remove fallen sticks, limbs, and other debris from park grounds.
• Perform weed eating, edging, and general grounds maintenance.
• Assist with mowing grass as needed.
• Operate small-engine equipment such as weed eaters, blowers, and mowers.
• Assist Parks & Recreation staff with other outdoor maintenance projects as assigned.

Requirements

• Knowledge and experience operating small-engine lawn and grounds equipment.
• Ability to perform physical labor and work outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Ability to work independently and complete assigned tasks.
• Dependable and able to maintain a consistent work schedule.
