Reentry Navigator

About the role

West Virginia Reentry Councils is hiring a Reentry Navigator for The Reach Initiative, serving Cabell, Lincoln, and Wayne counties. The role supports justice-impacted individuals, particularly those with substance use disorder, as they rebuild their lives and enhance employability.

Responsibilities

• Provide career and essential job skills readiness training and assist with work requirements.
• Facilitate access to health, mental health, and social support services.
• Connect participants to transitional and permanent housing opportunities.
• Connect participants with second-chance employers and employment support programs, including West Virginia's Jobs & Hope and Creating Opportunities for Recovery Employment (CORE).
• Participate in project activities across the planning, implementation, and evaluation/dissemination phases and contribute to project deliverables.
• Receive training in mentorship strategies, healthy relationships, mental health and addiction, trauma-informed care, de-escalation and crisis intervention, communication and stigma, and community resources.

Requirements

• Lived experience of recovery and incarceration is highly valued to provide peer support.
• Commitment to supporting others in recovery and reentry.
• Ability to work with a diverse population and adapt to individual needs.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to handle sensitive situations and maintain confidentiality.
• Must be 21 years of age and have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
• This is a drug-free workplace.
• Work is primarily in an office setting and/or remotely from home, with travel within the region to correctional facilities and community partner organizations in the counties listed above.

Benefits

This is a salary position with a stipend for benefits. The position is grant-funded, with no guarantee of continued employment or funding.
