Retirement Plan Specialist

About the role

McGuireWoods LLP is seeking a Retirement Plan Specialist to join its Human Resources Benefits team. The role leads day-to-day administration of the firm’s retirement plans, supports employee plan participants, and helps ensure regulatory compliance. McGuireWoods LLP has provided legal solutions to corporate, individual, and nonprofit clients since 1834.

Responsibilities

• Administer retirement plans, which may include a 401(k) plan and a defined benefit plan.
• Monitor payroll deductions and compare firm records with record-keeper records; elevate discrepancies for resolution.
• Coordinate daily benefits processing, including enrollments, terminations, changes, beneficiaries, rollovers, QDROs, distributions, loans, hardships, and compliance testing.
• Maintain employee benefits files and the group benefits database, and update employee payroll records.
• Assist employees with accessing accounts and making requests to the record-keeper for hardship withdrawal requests and loan applications.
• Respond to questions about plans and participant accounts, and serve as a contact for plan vendors and third-party administrators.
• Document and maintain administrative procedures for assigned benefits processes.
• Under the direction of the Sr. Benefits Specialist or Benefits Manager, understand and comply with applicable government regulations affecting retirement plans.
• Ensure required reporting and fees are timely and accurate.
