Senior Attorney – Large Loss/Excess Liability

About the role

We are seeking a senior-level Pennsylvania attorney to join our Philadelphia team to handle sophisticated large loss and excess liability litigation.

Tasks

• Manage complex large loss and excess liability matters from inception through resolution.
• Develop case strategy for high-exposure claims, including liability, damages, coverage and excess exposure.
• Handle sophisticated discovery and expert issues.
• Draft and argue dispositive and complex motions.
• Participate in mediations, arbitrations, settlement conferences and trial preparation.
• Maintain strong relationships with insurance carriers, excess carriers, self-insured entities and corporate clients.
• Support development of new business opportunities and help strengthen the large loss and excess liability practice.

Requirements

• J.D. from an accredited law school.
• Active Pennsylvania law license.
• Senior-level litigation experience.
• Strong insurance defense background.
• Experience handling large-loss, excess-liability, or other high-exposure litigation.
• Ability to manage complex matters independently.
• Strong legal research, writing and oral advocacy skills.
• New Jersey bar admission (preferred).
• Trial experience (first-chair or significant second-chair).
• Experience handling catastrophic injury or high-value matters.
• Experience representing excess carriers.
• Portable book of business (a plus).
• Established relationships with insurance carriers or corporate clients.

Schedule

• Full-time.
• Flexible hybrid.

Pay

• $165,000–$185,000+ per year.
