Senior Data Engineer

We are seeking a Senior Data Engineer & Full-Stack Developer to maintain, optimize, and expand our internal operations and revenue command center. This role sits at the intersection of data pipeline engineering, web application maintenance, and automated data quality assurance.Your core objective is to ensure absolute data fidelity across fragmented systems - reconciling disparate data sources (EHR, billing systems, remittances, CRM) down to the penny and row - while actively owning the full-stack web application that surfaces these metrics to key decision-makers.If you possess a "zero-trust" mindset toward data, excel at tracking down variances across complex databases, and leverage modern AI tools like Claude Code to write clean, well-tested code faster, this position is for you.Key Responsibilities:1. Data Manipulation, Pipeline Integrity & ReconciliationOwn Ingestion & ETL/ELT: Maintain and monitor pipelines ingesting data from multiple upstream systems (PostgreSQL, Azure SQL, REST APIs, billing feeds). Resolve schema drift, sync breaks, and billing lag issues.Zero-Trust Data Reconciliation: Engineer continuous data validation checks and automated nightly reconciliation test suites. Treat unexplained variances between source systems and analytics dashboards as critical application bugs.Audit Trail & Drill-Down Integrity: Ensure every high-level KPI on screen can be audited down to its raw source records with verifiable mathematical accuracy.2. Application Maintenance & Full-Stack DevelopmentFull-Stack Ownership: Maintain and enhance our production application built with FastAPI, SQLAlchemy 2, Alembic, PostgreSQL, React 19, and TypeScript.Interactive Data Visualization: Build crisp, actionable UI interfaces, drill-down tables (TanStack Table), and custom SVG/D3 charts that display exact counts, percentages, and clickable source details.Automated Testing & Reliability: Expand existing test suites (pytest unit/integration tests, Playwright end-to-end tests) to maintain code quality across back-end logic and front-end displays.3. AI-Assisted Engineering & InfrastructureAI-Enhanced Workflow: Utilize Claude Code (CLI/Workflow) and AWS Bedrock models to streamline task planning, code generation, test writing, and query optimization.Cloud & DevOps Maintenance: Deploy and manage services on AWS (ECS Fargate, S3, Secrets Manager, Terraform, GitHub Actions) and oversee scheduled nightly batch jobs.HIPAA & Data Security: Enforce strict privacy standards - maintaining audit logging, de-identified test data environments, and ensuring zero protected data enters code, logs, or AI prompts.Technical Stack & Qualifications:Data Engineering & Warehousing: Advanced SQL & T-SQL (PostgreSQL / AWS Aurora, Azure SQL Warehouse); data modeling, schema migration (Alembic), deduplication, and multi-system joins; experience handling lagging data, late-posting adjustments, and complex reconciliation logic.Software Development: Backend: Python 3.12, FastAPI, SQLAlchemy 2, pytest. Frontend: React 19, TypeScript, Tailwind CSS, TanStack Table, SVG/D3 graphics, Playwright.Cloud & DevOps: AWS (ECS Fargate, S3, Secrets Manager), Terraform, GitHub Actions, scheduled cron tasks.AI Tooling: Demonstrated, hands-on experience using Claude Code or similar AI coding agents to accelerate development while critically auditing AI output for accuracy and security.Data Detective: You default to questioning metrics until verified against source control totals.End-to-End Problem Solver: Ability to trace a frontend discrepancy back through API endpoints, ORM layers, SQL queries, and upstream source files.Product-Minded Developer: Ability to translate loose business questions into precise data definitions and clean, intuitive UI components.Nice to Have:Prior experience with healthcare revenue cycles (CPT/HCPCS codes, 835 remittance files, claim denials).Familiarity with behavioral health levels of care or HIPAA-compliant engineering practices.Experience integrating AWS Bedrock / Claude models for automated analytical features.
