Position Summary
Jobs Mediator is seeking a hands-on Senior Manufacturing Engineer with deep CNC machining expertise in automotive manufacturing. In this onsite role in Bolingbrook, Illinois, you will optimize machining processes, improve throughput and quality, and lead CNC programming and process development across production lines. The ideal candidate can troubleshoot equipment and processes on the shop floor, develop CNC programs, and deliver measurable continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Optimize machining processes to improve overall equipment effectiveness (OEE), reduce scrap, and increase throughput.
- Develop, modify, and validate CNC programs for lathes and vertical and horizontal milling machines.
- Lead toolpath development and cutting-strategy optimization for automotive components.
- Select and implement effective tooling, inserts, and workholding solutions.
- Troubleshoot cycle time, tool wear, chatter, and dimensional variation issues.
- Partner with Quality to ensure process capability, including Cp/Cpk, and first-piece validation.
- Lead continuous improvement using Lean manufacturing and Six Sigma principles.
- Develop and maintain process documentation, work instructions, and manufacturing standards.
- Collaborate with Operations, Maintenance, and Quality teams.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent hands-on experience.
- At least 5 years of CNC programming and machining experience in automotive manufacturing.
- Expertise with CNC lathes and milling machines; Fuji and Mori Seiki experience is preferred.
- Proficiency with CAM software such as Mastercam and with AutoCAD.
- Strong knowledge of GD&T, blueprint reading, and tolerance stack-ups.
- Experience with CMMs and Zoller tool presetters.
