Job Title: Senior Manufacturing Engineer

Location: Bolingbrook, Illinois, United States

Work Setup: Full-time, Onsite

Position Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Manufacturing Engineer with extensive CNC machining expertise in the automotive industry. This hands-on role focuses on optimizing machining processes, enhancing throughput and quality, and leading CNC programming and process development across production lines. The ideal candidate excels in troubleshooting, programming, and driving continuous improvement initiatives directly on the shop floor.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Optimize machining processes to improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), reduce scrap rates, and increase throughput.
  • Develop, modify, and validate CNC programs for lathes and milling machines, including vertical and horizontal setups.
  • Lead toolpath development and cutting strategy optimization for automotive components.
  • Identify and implement optimal tooling, inserts, and workholding solutions to maximize efficiency.
  • Troubleshoot machining issues such as cycle time delays, tool wear, chatter, and dimensional variations.
  • Collaborate closely with Quality teams to ensure process capability (Cp/Cpk) and first-piece validation compliance.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Create and maintain detailed process documentation, work instructions, and standards.
  • Work cross-functionally with operations, maintenance, and quality departments to ensure seamless production flow.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of CNC programming and machining experience in automotive manufacturing.
  • Proficiency with CNC lathes and milling machines, preferably Fuji and Mori Seiki brands.
  • Expertise in CAM software such as Mastercam or similar, and AutoCAD.
  • Strong knowledge of GD&T, blueprint reading, and tolerance stack-ups.
  • Experience with Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs), Zoller tool presetters, and precision measurement tools.
