Job description

OverviewWe are leading a Senior Tax Manager search for a Single-Family Office wealth management firm serving a Multi-Generational Family with diverse investment interests. This position will be based in the Cincinnati area. The firm manages a global portfolio across both public and private markets, with a disciplined, long-term approach. In addition to investment management, the office directs the accounting, legal, tax, estate planning, and risk management needs of the family.
This will be a strategic tax advisor role, with limited tax prep involvement, and will work closely with all the family members.
The firm puts an emphasis on culture and work/life balance – there will not be the traditional busy season hours – this role will have little, to no, overtime year-round.
Compensation will be very competitive and is flexible based on qualifications and skill set.
The Opportunity The client is seeking a highly motivated Senior Tax Manager to lead the family’s tax compliance and planning function in support of the Chief Financial Officer. This is a hands-on, advisory role responsible for the preparation and review of individual, trust, and partnership tax returns in coordination with the family’s third-party CPAs, ongoing tax projections, and consultation on income tax planning and wealth-transfer strategies. The candidate will work closely with decision makers across a sophisticated structure of public and private investments, trusts, and operating entities.
The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, self-motivated, analytical, and eager to contribute across multiple functions. This role is well-suited for an intellectually curious tax professional who thrives in a dynamic environment, desires more than a traditional compliance path, and is excited to grow at the intersection of tax, estate planning, investments, and technology.
What You’ll Do • Manage tax compliance across a sophisticated, multi-entity structure, supervising the preparation and review of individual, trust, partnership, and entity income tax returns in coordination with third-party CPAs.• Build trusted relationships as a client-facing advisor, working directly with family members to guide and educate them on the tax implications of investment activity, significant transactions, and estate planning strategies.• Collaborate with outside legal and tax advisors on estate, gift, and wealth-transfer planning transactions and strategies.• Prepare and maintain income tax projections, estimated payment calculations, and planning for tax liabilities across individuals, trusts, and entities.• Coordinate deliverables and manage relationships with family members, the investment team, external CPAs, attorneys, and other professional service providers, while maintaining organized tax records, workpapers, and filing calendars.• Continuously evaluate and improve tax workflows, documentation, and reporting tools, leveraging technology to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and informed decision-making.
Preferred Qualifications• Exceptional attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy and integrity in all work.• Strong technical tax foundation.• Demonstrated curiosity around technology, systems, and process improvement.• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.• Self-starter who takes ownership and follows through.• Strong communicator with the ability to translate complex financial information into clear insights.• Collaborative and adaptable, with a service-oriented mindset.• High degree of professionalism, honesty, integrity, and discretion in handling confidential information.
Background Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA designation or progress is a plus.• 5+ years of tax experience, preferably including experience in a family office, wealth management firm, investment advisory firm, or accounting firm supporting investment or wealth management clients.• Candidates with more or less experience may be considered based on qualifications. Differentiators• Close collaboration with senior leadership and family members on a small, high-impact team.• Dynamic, creative, and collaborative culture.• Centrally located - just minutes from downtown Cincinnati.• Exceptional benefits, including access to an on-site fitness facility and trainer.• Exposure to institutional-quality investment program with high-profile companies and confidential transactions.• Work/Life balance – flexibility with little, to no, overtime expected.
