Sr. Director of Insurance Risk Management

Take ownership of the risk strategy behind one of the country’s largest residential real estate portfolios.
A nationally recognized real estate and property-management organization is seeking an experienced Director of Insurance & Risk Management to lead its enterprise insurance, captive and risk-management strategy.
This is not a traditional insurance-administration position. You will serve as the company’s internal risk-management authority, advising executive leadership and partnering with Finance, Legal, Treasury, Accounting, Operations and Asset Management.
You will oversee a sophisticated, multibillion-dollar property and casualty insurance program encompassing a large national residential portfolio, a captive, catastrophe exposures, shared and layered placements, complex claims and alternative risk-transfer structures.
Key responsibilities include:
• Leading insurance and enterprise risk strategy• Optimizing risk retention, commercial insurance and captive utilization• Overseeing property, casualty, liability, workers’ compensation and automobile programs• Directing broker, carrier, TPA, actuarial and consulting relationships• Improving claims outcomes and catastrophe recovery• Using data and Power BI to identify loss trends and influence decisions• Managing lender, investor and contractual insurance compliance• Partnering with Legal on contracts, indemnification and risk transfer• Reducing the organization’s total cost of risk• Presenting recommendations to executives, lenders and captive stakeholders
The ideal candidate will have 10–15 years of insurance and risk-management experience, including significant real estate or habitational exposure. Experience with large property schedules, catastrophe claims, captive insurance and insured values exceeding $1 billion is highly preferred.
