Staff Test Engineer Cedar Rapids

About the role

The Staff Test Engineer will support IST Engineering in designing, developing, and facilitating high-quality integration test procedures. The role also supports enhancement of the entire solution development lifecycle.

Responsibilities

• Ensure hardware and software are tested against system requirements and interface specification requirements.
• Attend and participate in solution-level activities.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in software engineering, computer science, electrical engineering, Information Technology, or another related discipline.
• 7–10 years of experience in software testing principles, verification, and validation.
• Experience with test automation technologies and scripting tools such as Python, JavaScript, and C#.
• Strong understanding of general network design principles, including TCP/IP and UDP. Knowledge of Class D and EMP message structures and packet analysis is preferred.
• Experience with databases such as MySQL and MongoDB is preferred.
• Experience with requirements management tools such as IBM CLM and Doors Next Gen.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to present and articulate ideas clearly and concisely to customers and Wabtec leadership.
• Ability to work in a cross-functional, global environment.
• Systems design, segment testing, and integration testing experience.
• Broad railroad experience related to locomotive technologies, railroad operations and operating practices, and hardware, software, communications, and infrastructure is preferred.
• Exposure to AI-assisted engineering and testing tools, including generative AI, machine learning-based analytics, and intelligent automation.
• Willingness to adopt emerging AI technologies and apply data-driven approaches to improve test automation, defect analysis, productivity, and engineering workflows is preferred.
