Systems Administrator US

About the role

Deciphex is looking for a Systems Administrator to take ownership of day-to-day IT operations at its Naperville site and help move from firefighting to proactive IT operations. The role involves maintaining and optimising IT infrastructure, resolving ServiceDesk tickets, and providing technical support for employees and partners. You will work closely with the IT team in Ireland and the UK and report to a manager focused on developing people as the team grows.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and optimise servers, networks, communication systems and endpoints.
• Install, maintain and configure hardware and software according to company policies.
• Perform routine maintenance, inspection and testing of network and server systems.
• Maintain and configure Information Security software and manage incidents alongside the Incident Management team.
• Manage equipment logistics, shipments and the asset register.
• Work with the accounts team to stock technical equipment and accessories as required.
• Identify process improvements to reduce recurring IT requests and improve system efficiency.
• Assign and monitor tickets, ensuring appropriate prioritisation and escalation.
• Work with the IT Operations Specialist to rationalise costs and maintain cost-effectiveness across IT services.
• Build best practices and standards to improve ServiceDesk excellence and user satisfaction.
• Support network upgrades and infrastructure changes, sometimes scheduled for weekends to minimise downtime.
• Deliver the IT side of lab projects, including network provisioning for new instrumentation and scanner installations.
