I would say the way to ensure effective communication and collaboration of team members and other departments in the security context is to have further and clear communication with regards to other team members of the security department. It will be through our PTTs or through our peoples where everything is detailed, where the events of the day and anything that might have happened that could have been an incident is to be noted. And with regards to other departments who are not directly related to security or under security, it would be to send them reports whether in means of emails or also writing in our OB books and capturing all information that is relevant to the day. And also making sure that we have the context of anyone in any other department that we might be working hand in hand with in terms of maintenance of security accessories like gates, cameras, and the likes to make sure they are well maintained and effectively functioning and also communicate that information to those people that would be in those other departments, whether it's by phone or email, and also by lastly appearing approachable and friendly to other people in other departments so that we are able to have a secure premises or place.
I have been given a chance to experiment with the surveillance equipment or make use of them, namely at the previous company I used to work for, Fidelity ADT, where I was using the listener system to see triggered alarms in different areas or premises of clients. We had a lot database on the computer system where then I had to call them and inform them of the ringing alarms or the triggered alarms and had to get a password from the clients through the phone to confirm whether the situation was falling out or when they needed for us to send reaction. I've also had experience with CCTV cameras at another company I worked for previously in a warehouse for ShopRite DC at Vikings, where I was able to see different parts of the premises through the camera and see any influence or trespassers or anything out of the ordinary whilst I was failing. And if I happened to see anything at the time, I had a PBT radio to communicate with my seniors or other guards on the premises to inform them of any security breaches that might have happened or any suspicious person I had seen on the CCTV.
When I was a security guard at standard security services, there was an incident at Madison Square. There were people in the residence who were residents there who had a quarrel or a fight. During my patrols, I had to go and mediate the fight. Therefore, I was able to break them up. And when I spoke to them, trying to find out what was the problem before calling the police, they then explained what the quarrel was about and they both came into agreement and reconciled and then asked that we shouldn't proceed calling the police as this was a domestic issue between them. They then settled it. I didn't have to call the police, but I did make an entry on the OB book detailing how the events went and the names of the people that were involved at the time and where they were.
