Since I was out of high school, that's pretty much what I was looking into. Being from Arizona, I've looked into RSI. I've looked into Gateway Community College and some of the other programs associated. For me, a lot of it just came down to funding and the time management needed. I was working two jobs pretty much fresh out of high school. I had a daughter on the way, and, you know, for me, that meant everything. Of course, getting my HVAC certifications and all that would have opened a lot of doors in the future. I don't necessarily regret it because, again, you know, working hard, I was able to build a good life for my family, and that always came first. But I've always been interested in HVAC. My dad went into it, and I just know of all the good opportunities associated with that trade, specifically in Arizona. I can see myself contributing to a team. I've been in a lot of team environments, a lot of leadership roles in teams, so I'm very familiar with that. It's actually been my second passion is leadership, building teams, getting that buy-in from everybody by just showing up every day, being accountable and dependable. So, yeah, I look forward to hearing back from this position, the recruiters, and hopefully continue to go forth. And, yeah, thank you.
There was one time when I was driving down the highway somewhere in Kentucky. I was going down and there was a lot of road work. They had barriers blocking the shoulder of the road, traffic to my left. It was kind of an active construction site. I was going the appropriate speed. There was a truck driver in front of me. He either ran over a full trailer tire or lost one of his tires, but either way, it was coming at me. Now, I couldn't, I signaled to get over to my left lane. There was no way I could make it. There was too much traffic. Couldn't get over to the shoulder, so I had to maintain my lane. It's the safest thing to do, and I had to run over the tire. Worst thing that happened, it cut my brake lines. So my brakes instantly seized up and I made it to the exit. Exit also had a barricade, so I couldn't pull over to the shoulder. Luckily, there was a shop right around the corner, so I was able to pull in with my brakes smoking and basically, you know, caught on fire, immediately put out the fire, and I sat in there and went into the shop to, you know, talk to the guys in there and see if they could get me in. The only thing is, it was a company truck, so I had to get authorization from my company in order to get the service, whether they wanted to go with a mobile mechanic, even though I was at the shop, it's their truck. So I was able to message them. They didn't get back to me that night, but I knew I needed to do something and I, you know, needed to do something quickly. I'm not a mechanic by any means, but knowing that they got so hot, they caught on fire and they're seized up, I knew that, you know, I needed to release the brakes. I wasn't in the safest area. I did make it to the parking lot of that truck stop, but I was in the way. So I was able to, you know, get them extinguished and, you know, watched a couple videos on YouTube, was able to cage my brakes successfully and made it up to a parking spot away from, you know, where I was at and was able to get a hold of my dispatch that following morning. They approved the repairs for that. So, yeah, that's it.

Gary, Indiana, the day after Christmas in 2021, I went out to get my CDL. It was two weeks. I spent a long time in Arizona my whole life. So for that, that was just a huge cultural shift being out there in the cold, negative 11 degree wind chills right off the Great Lakes. And it was a learning curve. You know, I came from a background of mostly a lot of odd jobs and retail, security. But going into that, I went all in. That's how I do things. I go all in and everything that I do. And I was able to learn the skills needed to be a very good truck driver. And I kept up with that for the last four years of my life. I've been over the road. I've done local jobs. I was a cattle hauler. I've done volumetric mixing trucks and dumps. I just think that before I get too old, you know, I'm still very young. I wanna get into a trade and this seems like a very good opportunity to get into HVAC. Thank you.
