Ensure full compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act (Act 85 of 1993). Manage, compile, and maintain the site Health and Safety Files. Conduct daily site safety inspections to identify hazards and enforce corrective actions. Monitor high-risk construction activities including excavations, working at heights. Facilitate daily toolbox talks, site inductions, and ongoing safety awareness initiatives. Enforce PPE compliance and ensure adequate welfare facilities are provided and maintained on site. Conduct plant, tools, and equipment compliance checks and ensure valid certifications are in place. Control permit-to-work systems and ensure work is carried out according to approved method statements and risk assessments. Investigate incidents, near misses, property damages incidents, and unsafe acts, compile reports and implement corrective and preventative actions. Coordinate emergency preparedness activities, including emergency drills. Conduct weekly and monthly audits, including safety file audits. Liaise with site management, contractors, and clients on health and safety matters and report non-compliance. Exercise authority to stop unsafe work and remove non-compliant personnel from site when necessary. Monitor environmental and public safety controls to ensure compliance with project and legal requirements.
