Buyer I - Year Contract

This is a contractor position to provide services to a global company based in Costa Rica.
Position Summary
The Buyer I is responsible for supporting procurement and supply chain activities to ensure the timely availability of materials, components, and services required for manufacturing and business operations. This role manages purchase orders, monitors supplier performance, maintains ERP data integrity, and collaborates closely with cross-functional teams including Planning, Manufacturing, Logistics, Engineering, Finance, and Strategic Sourcing.The ideal candidate combines strong analytical skills, attention to detail, supplier relationship management capabilities, and the ability to work effectively in a dynamic manufacturing environment.Key Responsibilities
Procurement Operations
Create, review, and manage purchase orders based on Material Requirements Planning (MRP) recommendations.Ensure the timely procurement of direct and indirect materials to support production requirements.Monitor open purchase orders and proactively follow up with suppliers regarding order confirmations and delivery commitments.Analyze shortages, supply risks, and potential disruptions to maintain material availability.Review MRP exception messages, demand changes, and inventory parameters to support supply continuity.
Supplier Management
Develop and maintain effective working relationships with local and international suppliers.Monitor supplier performance related to delivery, responsiveness, quality, and service levels.Escalate supply issues when necessary and coordinate recovery plans with suppliers and internal stakeholders.Support sourcing and procurement teams in supplier communication and issue resolution activities.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner with Planning, Manufacturing, Logistics, Engineering, Finance, and Sourcing teams to ensure alignment of supply chain priorities.Participate in production meetings and material review discussions.Support inventory optimization initiatives while balancing customer service and operational requirements.
Data & Systems Management
Maintain accurate supplier, material, and purchasing information within ERP systems.Update delivery dates, order status, and supplier data to ensure planning accuracy.Generate and analyze reports related to purchasing activities, inventory levels, supplier performance, and material availability.
Continuous Improvement
Identify opportunities to improve procurement processes and operational efficiency.Support initiatives focused on inventory reduction, supplier performance improvement, and service level enhancement.Contribute to Lean, Operational Excellence, and Supply Chain optimization projects.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, International Business, Economics, or related field.1-2 years of experience in Purchasing, Procurement, Supply Chain, Materials Planning, or Operations.Experience working in manufacturing or industrial environments is preferred.Knowledge of ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, JDE, or similar platforms.Experience working with MRP-driven purchasing processes.Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.Portuguese fluency required.Basic English level.
