About the RoleCARTOR Engineering, PSC is seeking a detail-oriented and technically driven Electrical Drafter to join our team.This is a full-time hybrid position based in Caguas, Puerto Rico, with flexibility for work-from-home tasks. The Electrical Drafter will work closely with electrical engineers and project professionals to transform engineering concepts and field information into accurate, organized, and technically sound electrical drawings and documentation.The role will support projects throughout the design and documentation process, including the preparation and revision of electrical plans, incorporation of engineering and field markups, permitting documentation, construction drawings, project submittals, and as-built plans.The ideal candidate is organized, precise, comfortable working with technical information, and motivated to grow within a professional engineering environment.
ResponsibilitiesPrepare, develop, and revise detailed electrical plans and technical drawings using CAD software.Translate engineering concepts, calculations, and design requirements into clear and accurate drawings.Develop and update electrical layouts, single-line diagrams, panel schedules, details, and related documentation.Incorporate design revisions, engineering markups, inspection notes, and field information into project drawings.Review drawings for accuracy, consistency, completeness, and compliance with applicable codes and standards.Support the preparation of documents required for permitting, construction, project submittals, and utility coordination.Assist with the preparation and updating of as-built drawings based on field conditions and project changes.Coordinate drawing requirements and revisions with electrical engineers, project managers, inspectors, contractors, and other stakeholders.Maintain accurate, organized, and up-to-date project files and drawing sets.Support design reviews, client presentations, construction coordination, and other project-related activities.Manage multiple assignments while meeting established project schedules and deadlines.
QualificationsStrong foundation in Electrical Engineering and Electricity, with the ability to understand electrical distribution systems and building electrical layouts.Proficiency in electrical design and preparation of electrical plans, including the ability to create, update, and interpret single-line diagrams, panel schedules, and electrical layouts.Experience with technical drawing and CAD software, with the ability to produce accurate, detailed, and professional electrical drawings.Knowledge of applicable electrical codes and standards, including the National Electrical Code (NEC).Familiarity with electrical permitting processes and utility coordination.Associate or bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Drafting, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organization.Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines.Effective communication and teamwork skills.Ability to collaborate with engineers, inspectors, contractors, project coordinators, and other professionals.Ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment, including office-based collaboration in Caguas and independent work from home.
Preferred SkillsExperience in electrical engineering or electrical drafting projects.Familiarity with low- and medium-voltage electrical distribution systems.Experience preparing electrical construction documents.Familiarity with renewable energy or photovoltaic electrical systems.Knowledge of electrical inspections and construction documentation.Experience with permitting processes and coordination with utilities.Familiarity with LUMA Energy requirements and processes is a plus.Experience preparing as-built drawings and incorporating field conditions into design documentation.Strong problem-solving and technical communication skills.Commitment to accuracy, quality, continuous learning, and professional development.
