HVAC Field Service Technician

About the role

Daikin DALA is seeking a Service Technician to diagnose, repair, and perform preventative maintenance on commercial and industrial HVAC equipment. The role also provides training and guidance to Level I technicians. Responsibilities may increase based on task exposure, troubleshooting skills, and consistent, accurate completion of assignments.

Equipment includes large and small rooftop units, split systems, chillers, VRV, and some centrifugal chiller units.

Responsibilities

• Maintain HVAC VRV, unitary, and applied equipment, including logging machines, cleaning coils, brushing tubes, replacing filters and belts, and lubricating equipment.
• Perform troubleshooting, intermediate independent and supported diagnostics, pipefitting, and brazing of CAT II and III equipment.
• Repair or replace defective equipment, components, and wiring, including VFDs, VRV, electrical and refrigerant circuits, screw, scroll, and reciprocal compressors, rooftop systems up to 150 tons, and scroll chillers up to 200 tons.
• Perform independent troubleshooting of CAT II and III equipment at a beginner-intermediate proficiency level, with an introduction to centrifugal chillers and CAT I equipment.
• Conduct warranty service by independently inspecting and testing systems to verify functionality for scroll chillers, rooftop units up to 150 tons, and all Category II and III equipment.
• Start up new CAT II and III equipment by verifying functionality, and educate customers on proper use, maintenance schedules, and operating manuals.
• After confirming a diagnosis, provide the parts and labor-hours needed for CAT II and III equipment repairs so the SSR can quote the job.
• Lead the rebuild of a CAT II and III level unit and direct Level I technicians through hands-on demonstrations of necessary tasks.
