Law Firm Associate - Corporate Private Client Cross-Border Matters

Role DescriptionThis is a full-time, on-site position based in Guatemala City.We are looking for an Associate with solid legal experience who is comfortable taking responsibility for matters, dealing directly with clients and counterparties, and working in a fast-paced environment.The role will include:Corporate and commercial matters, including reorganizations, governance and transactions.Private client, estate planning and cross-border structures.Drafting and reviewing contracts, corporate documents and legal memoranda.Direct contact with clients, foreign counsel, banks, fiduciaries and other advisors.Coordination and follow-up of ongoing matters, documentation and closing processes.Legal and regulatory research in connection with corporate, tax and cross-border matters.Managing matters with limited supervision and identifying when partner involvement is needed.
We work closely as a team, with open communication and a practical approach to sharing responsibility and getting matters done.
Qualifications4–7 years of relevant legal experience.A law degree and qualification to practice law in Guatemala or another jurisdiction.Solid corporate and commercial law experience.Excellent written and spoken English.Strong drafting and analytical skills.Experience dealing directly with clients.The ability to handle several matters at the same time and work with short turnaround times.Clear and direct communication.Good judgment, initiative and attention to detail.The confidence to follow up with clients, external counsel and other professionals without requiring constant direction.
Experience in international, private client, tax or estate planning matters is highly desirable. Foreign-qualified lawyers with relevant corporate or cross-border experience are welcome to apply. Candidates should already have solid experience in their areas of practice and be comfortable taking responsibility for matters from the outset.
