Job missionThe Project Engineer executes engineering projects from concept to completion, ensuring customer satisfaction and adherence to Alum-a-Lift quality standards. In collaboration with the Engineering Manager and Engineering Team Leads, Project Engineers help drive project success, and deliver high-quality, innovative, timely solutions.
Key responsibilitiesDesign & EngineeringExecute detailed design of custom ergonomic lifting equipment, ensuring designs are manufacturable, cost-effective, and meet customer requirements.Create detailed CAD models and drawings, incorporating mechanical, electrical, and ergonomic considerations.Collaborate with customers to understand their needs and provide tailored solutions.
Project ManagementParticipate in small capital projects from design through completion.Act as a secondary point of contact for customers, providing updates and addressing issues as directed by a Lead Engineer.Coordinate with internal departments to ensure on-time delivery and successful project execution.
Manufacturing & Quality SupportProvide support during machining, fabrication, and assembly, troubleshooting design or production issues as needed.Assist with final inspections, helping ensure compliance with internal and external requirements and documenting results.
In this role you are required to act according to the Piab Code of Conduct and know and follow the Piab values, mission and routines.
Key interfacesThis position reports to the Alum-a-Lift Engineering Manager and is a member of Alum-a-Lift’s engineering group.Lead Engineers provide additional support and guidance for Project Engineers, including training and design collaboration.RequirementsBS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalentExperience using SolidWorks (or similar) for 3D modelling and drawingsExperience using AutoCAD, DraftSight, or similar 2D CAD softwareExperience executing engineering projectsTechnical expertise in relevant engineering disciplinesGood verbal and written communication skillsExcellent organizational skills and attention to detailStrong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skillsPreferred Skills & Experience≥1 year of experience working in a manufacturing environment1-3 years of experience using SolidWorks in a professional environment1-3 years of experience using AutoCAD/DraftSight in a professional environmentCapital project management experienceDemonstrated customer service skillsHands-on mechanical experience (e.g., automotive repair, machine assembly, etc.)Work Environment and Physical DemandsWalking or standing for long periods of time 4-6 hours.Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.Travel & Remote Work<5% – Occasional travel to customer sites, tradeshows, etc.Remote work is offered on a case-by-case basis.
