About the role
Puerto Rico Eye Institute is dedicated to providing ophthalmologic care with empathy and human warmth, under high clinical and ethical standards. This full-time role supports ophthalmologists in providing comprehensive eye care.
Responsibilities
- Conduct patient histories and focused eye examinations, and assist with diagnostic procedures and minor interventions.
- Document clinical findings, manage follow-up visits, and educate patients about diagnoses, treatments, and preventive eye care.
- Coordinate care plans with the clinical team and order and review appropriate tests under physician supervision.
- Maintain accurate medical records and participate in quality and safety initiatives.
Requirements
- Active Physician Assistant license or eligibility in Puerto Rico and graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant program.
- Experience or strong interest in ophthalmology or related specialties, and willingness to learn eye-specific examination techniques and procedures.
- Proficiency in clinical assessment, medical documentation, and electronic health record systems.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, ability to manage multiple patients in a fast-paced clinical environment, attention to detail, and commitment to compassionate care.
