Python Backend Engineer SSRSR

About the role

Confidential is seeking a Python Backend Engineer SSRSR to turn a research-grade prototype into tested, maintainable, scheduled production code.

Responsibilities

• Build and optimize container images, including packaging machine learning model artifacts and their runtime dependencies into deployable images.
• Deploy and operate workloads on Kubernetes, with an understanding of pods, deployments, resource limits, and cluster networking basics.
• Write and optimize SQL against Snowflake as both a data source and a destination for pipeline output.
• Develop scheduled production code from a research-grade prototype.

Requirements

• Strong production experience with Python 3.12 or later; scripting-level Python is not sufficient.
• Comfort writing and optimizing SQL against Snowflake.
• Experience building and optimizing Docker images.
• Experience deploying and operating workloads on Kubernetes.

Preferred skills

• Kubernetes CronJob experience, including scheduling, concurrency policy, backoff limits, and failure-history handling.
• KServe or an equivalent model-serving platform, such as Seldon or BentoML; building out a KServe cluster is the defined next phase of this role.
• Familiarity with clustering and statistics concepts used in the prototype: K-means with auto-K via silhouette scoring, Jenks Natural Breaks for tiering, and feature normalization and weighting.
