Secondary Mathematics Teacher

About the role

San Silvestre School is searching for a Mathematics teacher to teach from Grade 6 to IGCSE and IB Level Mathematics. This is a full-time teaching post.

Responsibilities

• Build positive relationships with students and maintain high classroom standards.
• Collaborate with colleagues in planning and teaching, and communicate effectively with parents and participate in conferences.
• Engage in professional dialogue with the Head of Mathematics and SLT.
• Plan and deliver engaging lessons aligned with school policies, differentiating instruction to support diverse learners.
• Collaborate with Learning Support for student success and use varied instructional methods to motivate students.
• Assess, provide feedback, and report on student progress.
• Organise relevant excursions and enrichment activities.
• Participate in professional development, reflect on teaching effectiveness and curriculum impact, and stay updated on best practices in Mathematics education.
• Maintain a safe and inclusive classroom environment, monitor students’ well-being, and follow safeguarding policies.
• Attend meetings, complete administrative tasks, refer concerns appropriately, and use educational technology to enhance learning.
• Provide reports, participate in school activities, supervise students as required, and support the school’s ethos and community engagement.
• Teach Mathematics up to IGCSE and/or IB level.

Requirements

• A recognised teaching qualification, such as Ed.M., PGCE or QTS.
• Experience teaching Mathematics within a Secondary School to IGCSE or IB Level.
• A good Bachelors (or equivalent) degree in Mathematics or a related field.
• Ability to speak English fluently.
• Experience working with EAL pupils (English as an Additional Language) is desirable.
