Retention bonus $5,000** (paid in 2 parts 1/2 at 90 days and 1/2 at a year)**

Available shifts - Monday - Friday between 8:00 am - 4:00 pm - no weekends

As the Family and Consumer Science Teacher you will provide instruction in family and consumer sciences and computer technology to students with diverse learning, behavioral, and developmental needs in a special education school setting. You will develop and implement individual standards-based lessons that promote academic achievement, independent living skills, career readiness, and technology proficiency. You will report to the assistant principal and work onsite.

Responsibilities

Follow all Agency policies and procedures, along with state and federal regulations about our school and students.Plan and deliver engaging lessons in family and consumer sciences, including:Nutrition and healthy livingFood preparation and kitchen safetyPersonal finance and budgetingConsumer awarenessCareer and life skillsTeach computer science and technology skills, including:Computer literacyKeyboarding and digital citizenshipBasic coding and programming conceptsMicrosoft Office and productivity softwareInternet safety and responsible technology useDifferentiate instruction to meet individual student needs and IEP goals.Create a positive, structured, and supportive classroom environment.Assess student progress and maintain accurate records.Collaborate with special education teachers, therapists, counselors, and families.Integrate assistive technology and teaching strategies.Ensure compliance with school policies, state regulations, and special education requirements.Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and parent conferences.Attend meetings, training, professional learning sessions (e.g., first aid, TCI, CPR, emergency procedures, behavior management) to enhance professional skills.Always monitor safety and well-being of students; monitor student attitudes and encourage positive behavior and interactions with peers.

Requirements And Education

Bachelor’s degree in education, Family and Consumer Sciences, or a related field required.Valid teaching certification required.1+ years of experience working with students with disabilities and diverse learning needs required.1+ years of experience working with instructional technology and computer applications required.
