Job description

Company Description: Barnes Brothers Fleet Maintenance is an independent fleet maintenance and diesel repair company based in Irving, Texas, serving commercial fleets throughout the Dallas–Fort Worth Metroplex. We provide preventive maintenance, diagnostics, truck and trailer repair, DOT inspections, welding, and mobile fleet service to customers across a wide range of industries.
We're seeking a General Manager to lead our Irving operation and help drive the next phase of the company's growth. This is an opportunity to take ownership of a growing, family-owned business that values leadership, accountability, customer service, and continuous improvement. The right candidate will play a key role in strengthening our current operation while helping position Barnes Brothers for future expansion.
Role Description: The General Manager is a full-time, on-site leadership position responsible for the day-to-day operations of our service and operations department. This role oversees our service advisors, shop foreman, in-shop technicians, and mobile service team while ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard. Responsibilities include managing shop workflow and scheduling, coordinating mobile service operations, monitoring key performance indicators, overseeing budgets, inventory, and vendor relationships, resolving customer concerns, and supporting the hiring, development, and accountability of employees. The General Manager will also work alongside ownership to improve processes, implement best practices, and help guide the long-term growth of the company.
Qualifications:Preferred minimum of 5 years in a leadership/supervisory capacity.Preferred strong understanding of diesel diagnostics and repair operationsPreferred experience managing technicians, foremen, and service advisorsProven leadership and people management skills, including team supervision, coaching, performance management, and conflict resolution.Operational and business management capabilities, such as budgeting, scheduling, hiring and training, resource planning, and process improvement.Customer service and relationship-building skills, with the ability to communicate clearly with clients, vendors, and internal teams as needed.Strong organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with attention to detail and follow-through.Strong understanding of shop workflow and dispatchingComfortable using shop management software and digital tools; experience with Fullbay is preferred.Ability to work in a fast paced, high volume, on-site environment where things can change on a dime.Relevant supervisory or management experience in trucking, or diesel repair or diesel parts; an associate or bachelor’s degree in business, management, or a related field is beneficial but not required.
