Job description

Production Technician

I'm working with an innovative U.S. space company developing advanced spacecraft propulsion systems and launch technologies. They are looking for multiple Production Technicians to support the assembly, integration, and testing of high-reliability aerospace hardware used in spaceflight applications.This is a hands-on manufacturing role requiring strong mechanical and electrical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to troubleshoot complex hardware in a fast-paced production environment.

Responsibilities

Assembly & Integration

Assemble mechanical and electro-mechanical aerospace hardware using engineering drawings, work instructions, and schematics.Perform precision assembly using hand tools, torque tools, fixtures, and specialised equipment.Support wiring, harness installation, soldering, and light fabrication activities.Inspect components and assemblies to ensure compliance with quality and configuration requirements.

Production Testing

Set up and operate production test equipment and fixtures.Run functional and environmental testing in accordance with established procedures.Prepare hardware for testing, including instrumentation and sensor installation.Monitor test activities and identify anomalies during execution.

Troubleshooting & Rework

Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and system-level issues during assembly and testing.Perform rework, repairs, and component replacement as required.Work closely with engineering teams to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.

Documentation & Equipment Support

Record build data, test results, and production documentation while maintaining configuration control.Assist with the setup and maintenance of production and test equipment, including vacuum chambers, vibration systems, thermal cycling equipment, electrical test equipment, and other ground support hardware.Maintain clean, organised work areas in accordance with cleanroom and FOD control practices.

Collaboration

Work closely with manufacturing, test, quality, and engineering teams to support production schedules and continuous improvement initiatives.Communicate technical issues clearly to ensure product quality and on-time delivery.

Required Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required.Technical certification or an associate degree in a related discipline is advantageous.3-6 years of hands-on technician experience in aerospace, defence, or another high-reliability manufacturing environment.Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.Experience assembling precision electro-mechanical systems.Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, and test procedures.Experience using diagnostic equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, pressure gauges, and data acquisition systems.Experience supporting hardware integration, functional testing, or environmental testing.Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in manufacturing spacecraft or aerospace hardware.Familiarity with cleanroom operations, contamination control, and FOD prevention.Experience supporting environmental testing, including vibration, thermal, vacuum, or shock testing.Basic soldering, wiring, and harness fabrication skills.Experience working with propulsion hardware, pressure systems, or vacuum systems.Forklift or overhead crane certification is advantageous.

Physical Requirements

Ability to stand for extended periods.Ability to lift up to approximately 35 lbs (16 kg).Comfortable working in laboratory, production, and cleanroom environments.

Compensation
