AI Software Engineer Team Lead

About the role

Banesco USA is seeking an AI Software Engineer Team Lead for its IT Department in Miami. The role focuses on developing AI-driven software applications to automate and optimize banking workflows and internal processes.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy AI-driven software applications to automate and optimize complex banking workflows and internal processes.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior developers, ensuring high-quality code and adherence to software engineering best practices.
• Collaborate with process analysts, product owners, and internal stakeholders to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
• Reinforce best practices for agile development, DevOps, and AIOps, including sprint planning, CI/CD, AI evaluations and benchmarking, and observability and monitoring.
• Complete assigned annual training programs to stay current with technology trends and banking regulations.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Automation Team Lead or VP, BI & Automation Manager.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Banking or financial services experience is preferred, with exposure to core banking systems such as Jack Henry & Associates and compliance regulations.
• Experience managing a team of developers or in a supervisory role.
• Mid-to-senior-level software engineering experience, ideally focused on AI applications and custom software product development.
• Proven technical leadership and ability to mentor junior team members.
• Strong understanding of agile development methodologies and R&D-focused engineering practices.
• Professional working experience with Python, Google Cloud, and SQL.
• Experience with Vertex AI, Gemini models or APIs, or an AI orchestration framework.
