Job description
About the role
University Orthopedics is seeking an ASC Scrub Technician. The role reports to the ASC Clinical Manager and functions as a certified scrub technician in the operating room or procedure room under the direction of the Registered Nurse.
Responsibilities
- Provide safe patient care as directed by the Registered Nurse and according to facility policy and procedure.
- Organize and provide patient care in a timely manner, following policies and procedures.
- Respond to emergency situations according to designated responsibilities and under the direction of the Clinical Leader or Registered Nurse.
- Initiate and implement basic cardiopulmonary resuscitation (BCLS) under the direction of the Clinical Leader or Registered Nurse.
- Assist the Clinical Leader or Registered Nurse with patient and family teaching and with interventions related to patient and environmental safety.
- Assist with gowning and gloving surgical team members, preparing the operating room, skin preparations and draping patients.
- Communicate with patients, families, teammates, physicians and other members of the healthcare team.
- Set priorities and provide clear, concise direction to others to promote efficiency throughout the clinical areas.

- Demonstrate knowledge and competence in the designated skills identified for the position.
- Recognize the legal and policy limits of individual practice.
- Correlate clinical data with patient care under the direction of the Clinical Leader or Registered Nurse.
- Demonstrate the ability to meet patients’ and families’ learning needs as identified in the plan of care.
