Waldeck & Patterson fosters a supportive environment where attorneys can grow their skills, contribute to firm development, and build long-term client relationships.Role Description The Attorney role is a full-time, hybrid position based in Prairie Village, KS, with the flexibility to perform some work from home. The attorney will manage a caseload from intake through resolution, including legal research, drafting pleadings, motions, contracts, and other documents, and appearing in court or before administrative bodies as needed. Daily responsibilities include advising clients, developing case strategies, negotiating settlements or agreements, and coordinating with paralegals, support staff, and other attorneys. The attorney will also review documents for accuracy and compliance, maintain organized case files, track deadlines, and ensure timely communication with clients and colleagues. Participation in firm meetings, business development initiatives, and continuing legal education is expected.Qualifications Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school and active license to practice law in Kansas (or eligibility for admission).Experience handling cases, including legal research, drafting pleadings and motions, and client advocacy in litigation or transactional matters.Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking abilities to develop effective legal strategies.Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including clear drafting, client counseling, and collaboration with colleagues.High level of professionalism, ethical judgment, and attention to detail in all aspects of legal practice.Ability to manage multiple matters, meet deadlines, and work independently while contributing to a team-oriented environment.Comfort with hybrid work arrangements, including use of legal research tools and case management software.Prior experience in a law firm or relevant practice area is preferred but not required; willingness to engage in ongoing professional development.
