About the role
Zurich North America is seeking an experienced Executive Underwriter or AVP, Underwriting Director for its National Account, Large Casualty Team in the West Region. The position supports the Southern California Territory, with flexible work locations in Los Angeles and Irvine offices. The role contributes to profitable production growth and strong renewal retention by evaluating, pricing, and negotiating highly complex, large-scale commercial insurance risks and cultivating broker and client relations.
The team combines Domestic Casualty business with Umbrella, Property, Financial Lines, Cyber, and International to provide a holistic solution to large, complex customers. The role may be filled at either the Executive Underwriter or AVP, Underwriting Director level. The hiring manager will determine the appropriate level based on the selected applicant’s experience and skillset relative to the qualifications.
Responsibilities
- Underwrite, analyze, and generate new and renewal business.
- Manage market-facing activity and production within the Large Casualty, National Accounts division.
- Administer and monitor underwriting rules and guidelines, insurance laws and regulations, and rating manual rules.
- Develop and maintain broker relationships in the Southern California Territory.
- Work within broad limits and authorities on highly complex assignments.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or Equivalent and 5 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area; or
- High School Diploma or Equivalent and 10 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area; or
- Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice, including an Associate Degree, and 3 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area.
