Job description
EXPLORE ST. LOUIS is seeking an experienced, strategic Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead financial operations and safeguard the organization’s fiscal integrity in St. Louis, Missouri. Reporting to the President and CEO, the CFO directs the Finance Department and oversees financial activities across the organization, with administrative authority over Risk Management, IT, and Ticket Operations. As a member of the executive leadership team, the CFO helps shape organizational strategy, financial planning, and a culture of excellence in financial management.
Key Responsibilities
- Advise the CEO and Board of Commissioners with forward-looking financial insights that support strategy, capital planning, and long-term sustainability.
- Lead the annual planning and budgeting process, ensuring the budget reflects the Strategic Plan and organizational goals and is presented for Board approval and shared with government agencies as required.
- Establish and maintain internal controls that safeguard Commission assets and support the integrity of operations and transactions.
- Oversee financial analysis of organizational performance, trends, resources, and facilities; develop financial models and scenario planning to support timely decision-making.
- Oversee and update ongoing financial forecasts, sharing insights with the team to support effective resource management.
- Coordinate financial strategy for major capital assets, including funding models, public-private partnerships, and long-term asset optimization.
- Provide executive leadership across Finance and administrative oversight of Risk Management, IT, and Ticket Operations.
