About the role

American Training, Inc. is a nonprofit human service organization seeking a Controller to lead accounting and financial operations. The role supports the organization's financial strength and its mission of bringing out the best in everyone.

Responsibilities

• Lead accounting and finance operations, including financial reporting, budgeting, cash management, accounts payable and receivable, contract and grant accounting, purchasing, and internal controls.
• Partner with executive leadership on budgets, financial performance, systems and processes, and financial insights for organizational decision-making.
• Maintain GAAP standards, support audits, oversee funding and billing requirements, and strengthen internal controls.
• Mentor and direct the daily work of a diverse team, ensuring efficient processing and adherence to monthly close schedules while championing the WOW! Magic Culture.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting; a CPA or advanced degree is preferred.
• Progressive accounting leadership experience in a nonprofit organization.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, nonprofit accounting, budgeting, audits, internal controls, and financial reporting.
