Director of Social Services

About the role

Housing Solutions of New York is seeking a Director of Social Services to lead, manage, and provide strategic oversight of social service operations within the housing. The role focuses on high-quality, client-centered, trauma-informed services that support residents in achieving stability, independence, and successful housing outcomes. The director ensures compliance with applicable site, state, and agency requirements, including DHS, OTDA, and HRA.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise the Social Services team.
• Provide supportive counseling and case oversight.
• Develop and maintain partnerships and resources for clients.
• Ensure compliance with DHS/HRA requirements.
• Oversee admissions, discharges, and reporting.
• Support program quality, training, and innovation.
• Participate in case conferences and team meetings.
• Maintain accurate records and data reporting.
• Maintain relationships and documentation, provide advocacy, and meet required audits and performance standards.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree required; LCSW or LMSW preferred.
• 2-4 years of DHS case management experience.
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• Proficiency in written and oral English.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and database programs.
