About the role

Zachry Group is seeking a Drafter, Civil/Structural Mechanical for a direct hire position. The role is based in the Stonington, CT or Charlotte, NC engineering office. The drafter uses manual and computerized drafting methods and applies working knowledge of mechanical and/or civil/structural design. Assignments use information provided by engineers or design staff under a supervisor’s direction.

Responsibilities

• Prepare mechanical isometrics, plans, elevations, sections, piping plans, details, and pipe hanger supports using engineer sketches and vendor information.
• Prepare bills of material, resolve client comments, and prepare as-built drawings as needed.

Requirements

• High school diploma with coursework in drafting techniques and/or a drafting certificate.
• Education or experience in engineering drafting and familiarity with basic drafting techniques.
• Ability to accurately draw complex mechanical systems from sketches or specifications using appropriate terms, procedures, and drafting standards.
• Ability to use various drafting and CADD techniques for project requirements and produce complex drawings in 2-D and 3-D.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office software, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Effective time management skills; the position may involve working on several projects.
