ELA Curriculum Specialist - Mideast Michigan

About the role

Join National Heritage Academies as an ELA Curriculum Specialist. Reporting to the ELA Curriculum Manager, this role supports curricular needs relating to programs, resources and documents in the Mideast Michigan schools.

National Heritage Academies partners with communities to build and operate public charter schools. Founded in 1995, NHA serves over 100 schools in nine states, with more than 65,000 students in kindergarten through 12th grade. Its schools are designed to eliminate the achievement gap and provide school choice so children are prepared for success in college, career and life.

Responsibilities

• Create and facilitate professional development for teachers and leaders on instructional strategies, data response and curricular tool implementation.
• Develop and revise lesson plans, assessments, instructional routines and frameworks for K-12 ELA teachers.
• Collaborate with school leadership to enhance teacher quality through direct coaching at schools on effective instruction, data analysis and assessment administration.
• Research and promote best practices in assigned content areas.
• Model effective literacy instruction.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Education required; a master’s degree is preferred.
• A minimum of 3-5 years of English Language Arts teaching experience is preferred.
