Network Engineer – Feature Tester. Lab Based in Seattle WA - On site 5 days per week
Job Description:
We are the Products and Services Readiness team within North America. We lead testing and introduction of new Radio technology for North American telecom operators.We are currently looking for a Network Engineer who will perform the role of a Feature Test Engineer.
As a Feature Test Engineer, you will work in RF / RAN radio lab and gain familiarity with the Ericsson radio products (SW and HW) through product testing, as well as with the Ericsson product acceptance process for our large customer T-Mobile. You will be exposed to the latest radio products that will be rolled out in our biggest customer network. The goal is to validate the functionality of the latest Radio Products and to find and correct as many faults as possible, prior to rolling out the product network wide. As part of your work, you will be interacting with various Ericsson organizations such as development unit, customer units, but also directly with the customers.
You may also be asked to work on automation projects that aim to improve and accelerate the testing process.
Cloud experience OpenStack, VMware, AWS and Mavenir, Keysight, Ciena RAN products are preferred.
Roles and Responsibilities:
• Perform integration, certification, and implementation of 4G LTE/5G technology into customers’ lab facilities and first market application(s).• Demonstration of new functionality, and SW/HW capabilities.• Perform proof of concept with customers for pre-commercial products and next generation Radio access technology equipment.• Support Ericsson NPI project, involving integration, configuration, features and functionalities, troubleshooting, inconsistences, and testing on roadmap portfolio Ericsson for BBU (baseband units), and Radios on different technologies/bands operation.• Resolve technical issues and serve as point of contact towards the Customer Project Manager (CPM), customer, and the EU throughout the project.• Participate in lab testing, working closely with the delivery manager and customer to define the scope of work, resource plan and timeline.• Execute Test Object List (TOL).• Troubleshoot, investigate and resolve technical problems in existing networks.• Prepare and present reports for customer acceptance.
Deep Dive:
Test Strategy & Planning: Develop and implement detailed test plans, test cases, and test strategies for RAN features, including functional, performance, stability, and regression testing, specifically addressing cloud-native deployments and OAM aspects.Cloud OAM Validation: Design and execute tests to validate the OAM functionalities of cloud-native RAN components, including fault management, configuration management, performance management, security management, and lifecycle management (e.g., deployment, scaling, upgrades) in cloud environments.Test Automation: Drive the development and maintenance of automated test suites and frameworks using scripting languages (e.g., Python, Robot Framework) to enhance efficiency and coverage for both RAN and Cloud OAM testing.Troubleshooting & Analysis: Identify, analyze, and debug complex issues within RAN software and hardware, particularly those related to cloud infrastructure, virtualization, and OAM interactions, collaborating with development teams for resolution.Performance & Scalability Testing: Conduct performance, load, and stress testing for RAN elements deployed on cloud platforms, evaluating resource utilization, latency, and throughput under various conditions.Documentation & Reporting: Create clear and concise test reports, defect descriptions, and technical documentation, communicating findings to stakeholders.Continuous Improvement: Proactively identify areas for test process improvement, tool enhancement, and adoption of best practices in cloud-native testing.Collaboration: Work closely with R&D, product management, and customer support teams to ensure high-quality product delivery.
