Job description
Join a growing team as a full-time Fiber Optic & Structured Cabling Technician in Glens Falls, New York. In this on-site role, you will install and maintain wiring infrastructure that supports client communications systems and reliable network services.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, terminate, splice, and test fiber optic and structured cabling systems in accordance with industry standards and local regulations.
- Use OTDRs and other testing equipment to verify performance and reliability.
- Troubleshoot and maintain fiber optic, structured cabling, and low-voltage systems.
- Document installations, maintenance work, and test results for quality assurance and compliance.
- Coordinate with project managers and technicians to complete projects on schedule and within budget.
- Help design network cabling layouts to meet client requirements.
- Conduct site surveys and audits to assess cabling needs for upcoming projects.
Required Qualifications
- Technical certification in fiber optics or structured cabling.
- Demonstrated experience with fiber optics, structured cabling, low-voltage systems, and related tools.
- Strong splicing, testing, troubleshooting, and documentation skills.
- Experience with OTDRs, patch panels, and common cabling test equipment.
- Two to five years of telecommunications experience preferred.
Team and Reporting
Work alongside field technicians, project managers, and support staff to deliver projects. You will report to the Technical Supervisor for guidance.
