Junior Data Analyst

About the role

Support data analytics, data management, and COVID-19 data dashboard initiatives for the New York State Department of Health.

Tasks

• Analyze, process, transform, and visualize large datasets.
• Support COVID-19 data dashboards and distribute data to external stakeholders and the public.
• Develop and maintain data processing and ETL pipelines.
• Research and document technical designs and programming solutions.
• Write and execute unit test plans, troubleshoot defects, and provide technical support.
• Collaborate with team members to ensure project deliverables and scope are met.

Requirements

• 5–10 years of relevant experience.
• Experience managing medium- to large-scale technical projects.
• Strong knowledge of data analytics, reporting, transformation, and visualization.
• Bachelors degree in Data Engineering, Computer Science, MIS, or an equivalent field from an accredited institution.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
• Must be willing to work onsite in Menands, NY, and relocate promptly if currently outside commuting distance.
• A copy of the bachelors degree must be included with the candidate proposal.
• Preferred: Python-based data analytics
• Preferred: Oracle, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and DynamoDB
• Preferred: Experience handling large datasets (10M+ records)
• Preferred: ETL pipeline development and maintenance
• Preferred: Cloud-native, hybrid, and serverless applications
• Preferred: Tableau dashboards and visualization of large datasets (1M+ records)
