Log Buyer

Responsibilities:
Purchase hardwood logs for the sawmill and resell program
Develop and maintain relationships with loggers, landowners, and timber suppliers
Evaluate log quality, species, grade, and volume
Coordinate with the mill and management to maintain an adequate supply of quality logs
Maintain accurate records of purchases and suppliers
Promote Travco Lumber Company throughout the local timber and logging community
Follow company policies and applicable forestry and safety requirements
Qualifications:
Previous experience in log buying, timber procurement, logging, forestry, or the hardwood lumber industry preferred
Strong knowledge of hardwood species and log quality
Knowledge of log scaling, and grading
Excellent communication and negotiation skills
Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers
Self-motivated with the ability to work independently
Strong organizational and decision-making skills
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
Experience in the hardwood lumber or logging industry is highly preferred, but we are willing to consider the right candidate with strong industry knowledge and a willingness to learn.
