Mental Health Monitor Sitter

The Mental Health Monitor/Sitter provides continuous observation of patients who are on suicide watch, in therapeutic restraints, or otherwise identified as being at risk of self-harm or harm to others. The position involves staying on the patient’s designated observation area, documenting observations accurately, providing patient safety, and completing required training. The Mental Health Monitor/Sitter supports mental health services. Must be licensed or have appropriate training according to unit requirements.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide continuous observation of patients on suicide watch, in therapeutic restraints, or otherwise at risk.
- Monitor patients through in-person observation and assigned video surveillance systems.
- Document observations accurately and promptly.
- Record behavioral changes, concerns, or incidents.
- Immediately intervene as necessary and report any concerns.
- Follow all instructions from the medical personnel responsible for the unit.
- Provide patient support and therapeutic environment.

REQUIREMENTS
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Experience monitoring patients, screens observing patients, and reporting findings.
- Minimum of six (6) months of clinical, academic, or service experience in a medical setting.
- Strong documentation and communication skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Compassionate, calm, and therapeutic environment.

SUPPORTIVE TRAINING PROVIDED
- Ongoing training on patient observation, documentation, and unit protocols.
