OGC Lawyer- Compliance Regulatory

About the role

The OGC Lawyer - Compliance (Regulatory) is an integral part of Latham & Watkins’ Office of the General Counsel team. The role reviews contracts and other documents relating to the firm’s compliance and regulatory obligations, identifies and mitigates regulatory compliance risks, negotiates contractual positions, and escalates novel or complex issues as needed.

The role is located in either the New York, Boston, or Washington, D.C. office. It may be eligible for a flexible working schedule that allows for a hybrid and in-office presence.

Responsibilities

• Conduct legal and compliance reviews of vendor contracts, outside counsel guidelines, terms of engagement with firm clients, and client, vendor, and banking questionnaires.
• Review matters within the regulatory compliance purview, with a focus on sanctions, export controls, anti-bribery and anti-corruption (ABAC), anti-money laundering (AML), DAC6, the UK Criminal Finances Act, and related regulatory requirements.
• Triage and prioritize review requests, coordinate reviewer workflows, and ensure timely, high-quality completion of reviews.
• Support vendor risk regulatory compliance contracting initiatives for local counsel.
• Negotiate appropriate contractual positions with clients, vendors, and internal stakeholders, and escalate novel or complex issues as needed.
