Optical Technician

REQUIREMENTS:
* High School Diploma/GED

QUALIFICATIONS:

ADDITIONAL DETAILS:
* Prepare patients for their eye examinations.
* Perform preliminary vision testing, including visual acuity and color vision.
* Conduct auto-refraction, keratometry, and lensometry.
* Perform non-contact tonometry or other intraocular pressure testing as trained.
* Take and document OCT, retinal photographs, visual fields, and other diagnostic tests.
* Perform preliminary testing such as pupillary assessment, EOM testing, and confrontation fields.
* Assist with contact lens evaluations, insertion/removal training, and patient education.
* Administer eye drops or medications when permitted by state law and office protocols.
* Enter accurate patient information and test results into the electronic medical record.
* Prepare examination rooms and clean/disinfect equipment according to office procedures.
* Assist the optometrist during examinations and procedures.
* Explain testing procedures and answer routine patient questions.
* Schedule appointments and assist with referrals when needed.
* Maintain and stock clinical supplies and equipment.
* Follow HIPAA, infection-control, and patient-safety procedures.
* Provide professional, compassionate customer service to patients.
* Assist with optical services, frame selection, measurements, and eyewear orders when applicable.
* Maintain accurate documentation and communicate relevant patient information to the optometrist.
