About the role
Mai Placements is seeking a Payroll Manager to oversee payroll operations and ensure accurate, timely, and compliant payroll processing across the organization.
Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end payroll administration for salaried, hourly, and grant-funded employees.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local wage and tax regulations.
- Partner with Finance and HR to maintain payroll accuracy, manage reporting requirements, support audits, and uphold strong internal controls within a complex organizational environment.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
- 3–5+ years of payroll administration experience.
- Strong knowledge of payroll tax regulations and wage and hour laws.
- Experience managing payroll in multi-site organizations; nonprofit or grant-funded environments preferred.
- Experience with payroll systems, preferably UKG Ready.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and MS Office.
- Strong attention to detail, confidentiality, and communication skills.
- Ability to work extended hours during payroll processing and year-end reporting.
