Role Description
We are seeking an experienced and highly analytical Underwriter / Real Estate Analyst to join our Los Angeles team. While this role requires a comprehensive understanding of commercial real estate, the primary focus will be driving our advisory business and executing special projects.
In this role, you will play a critical part in helping our clients navigate complex capital markets, structuring creative debt and equity solutions, and tackling unique financing challenges. You will act as a key player in analyzing potential advisory assignments, underwriting niche asset classes, and developing bespoke financial models to support sponsor financing and internal strategic initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Advisory Underwriting: Lead the underwriting and financial modeling for advisory assignments, including structuring complex capital stacks (debt, mezzanine, and equity) for sponsors.Asset-Specific Analysis: Deep-dive into specific asset classes, primarily focusing on evaluating and underwriting Manufactured Housing, RV Parks, and Multifamily properties.Special Projects: Spearhead strategic special projects for the firm's leadership, which may include new market analysis, portfolio evaluations, or crafting custom financing solutions for clients with unique credit histories.Deal Execution: Support the advisory pipeline from origination to closing, including drafting investment memorandums, preparing marketing materials for capital placement, and facilitating due diligence.Market Research: Continuously monitor capital market trends, interest rates, and niche real estate market dynamics to ensure Romulan Capital provides the most current and competitive advisory services.Qualifications
Experience: A minimum of 3 years of direct experience in commercial real estate underwriting, financial analysis, or capital markets.Required Asset Class Expertise: Direct, demonstrable experience underwriting Manufactured Housing, RV Parks, and Multifamily assets is required.Technical Skills: Exceptional financial modeling skills with an ability to build and manipulate complex cash flow models from scratch (Advanced Excel proficiency is a must).Advisory Acumen: A strong understanding of commercial real estate debt and equity capital markets, capital structuring, and creative financing mechanisms.Soft Skills: Excellent negotiation, presentation, and communication skills, with the ability to distill complex financial data into clear, actionable insights for sponsors and institutional partners.Work Style: An entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to work independently, pivot quickly, and manage multiple advisory deals and special projects simultaneously.Education: Bachelor's degree in Real Estate, Finance, Business, Economics, or a related field.
