Security Compliance & Assessment Advisor – Remote, United States

Position Overview

Abdul Farook is seeking an experienced Security Compliance & Assessment Advisor for a remote, full-time role in the United States. You will assess enterprise information systems for security risks, vulnerabilities, and compliance requirements across IT, cloud, and AI environments.

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with security control assessments and strong knowledge of NIST SP 800-37 and NIST SP 800-53/53A. You will review security evidence, evaluate control effectiveness, support continuous monitoring, automate assessments, analyze risk data, and communicate findings to technical teams and leadership. Candidates with DevSecOps automation or AI security assessment experience are especially encouraged to apply; additional rate flexibility may be available for this experience.

Responsibilities

• Assess security controls across enterprise IT, cloud, and AI systems.
• Review control evidence, policies, standards, and procedures for completeness and compliance.
• Score controls consistently and document assessment findings, risks, and recommendations.
• Support continuous monitoring and continuous authorization processes.
• Work with automated evidence pipelines, monitoring tools, and security assessment automation techniques.
• Analyze large, complex datasets to identify systemic security risks and trends.
• Present clear, data-driven findings to technical stakeholders and leadership.

Required Qualifications

• 3–5+ years of relevant experience in security assessment, security compliance, GRC, or information security.
• Proven experience conducting security control assessments in IT, cloud, and/or AI environments.
• Strong working knowledge of NIST SP 800-37 and NIST SP 800-53/800-53A.
• Experience reviewing security evidence and evaluating control scoring consistency.
• Understanding of compliance, assurance, and continuous authorization processes.
• Experience with automated evidence pipelines and continuous monitoring tools.
• Knowledge of security assessment automation and strong data-analysis skills.
• Ability to identify systemic security issues and communicate findings effectively.

Preferred Experience

• DevSecOps security assessment or automation experience.
• AI security assessment experience.
