LOS ANGELES AREA
Minimum requirement: MUST HAVE VALID CA GUARD CARD
A plus, but not required (per flyer):
BATON PERMIT A PLUS (NOT REQUIRED)
PEPPER SPRAY PERMIT A PLUS (NOT REQUIRED)
ARMED GUARD CARD A PLUS (NOT REQUIRED)
CCW A PLUS (NOT REQUIRED)
Additional flyer context: “Depending on experience, employer and assignment.”

Pay: $20 AN HOUR AND UP depending on experience, permits, qualifications, assignment, and employer.

HOW TO BECOME A SECURITY GUARD
1) Apply (online or in-person) and get fingerprinted.
2) Get fingerprinted (Live Scan).
3) Apply through the CA Bureau of Security.
4) Receive your Guard Card (usually 2–6 weeks).
5) Apply for additional permits (Baton, Pepper Spray).

TYPICAL COSTS (shown on flyer):
Guard Card Training (8 hours) $50 – $150
Live Scan (fingerprinting) $7 – $10
BSIS Application Fee $75
