Job description

Senior Commissioning Engineer — Mission CriticalLocation: Nationwide (US) — travel-basedCompensation: $130,000 – $180,000 + Per Diem + Bonus + Benefits
Flowtec Group is partnering with a leading MEP consulting engineering firm to appoint a Senior Commissioning Engineer to lead commissioning on large-scale mission critical projects.
Our client is expanding its mission critical commissioning practice on the back of hyperscale and colocation demand. This is a senior appointment on the owner's side of the table — you'll own the Cx programme and be the person the owner trusts to confirm the facility actually performs, not the one executing someone else's checklist. Per diem and bonus sit on top of base.
What You'll Be Doing:Leading commissioning end to end — from design phase review through L1–L5 testing, integrated systems testing, turnover and closeoutReviewing design documents and submittals for commissionability, and developing OPR, Cx plans and test scriptsWitnessing factory testing on critical equipment — UPS, generators, switchgear, chillers and CDUsDirecting pre-functional and functional performance testing across electrical, mechanical and controls systemsRunning integrated systems testing and failure scenario testing to prove resilience before the owner takes the keysOwning the issues log and driving resolution with contractors, vendors and design teamsCoordinating with owners, general contractors, trade partners and inspection authorities on siteProducing Cx reports, systems manuals and training documentation through to owner acceptanceMentoring junior commissioning staff as the practice grows
What We're Looking For:4+ years of commissioning experience, with a strong track record on mission critical facilities — data centers, semiconductor, pharma or comparableHands-on L1–L5 and integrated systems testing experienceDeep knowledge of critical power and cooling — UPS, generators, switchgear, ATS/STS, chillers, CRAHs and BMS/EPMSLiquid cooling and CDU exposure a strong advantageExperience across hyperscale or colocation programmes with real numbers on capacity or scaleConfident leading test events and holding contractors to account in the fieldCxA, CCP or NETA certification a plusWilling to travel nationwide
Why This Role:Owner-side authority. You'll run the commissioning programme and be the final word on whether a facility performsPackage built for the work — competitive base plus per diem and bonusVariety across programmes and owners, rather than being tied to a single contractor's pipelineA growing mission critical practice where senior Cx people shape how the team is builtA market that isn't slowing down. Hyperscale and AI-driven builds are accelerating, and experienced mission critical commissioning engineers are in genuinely short supply
How to Apply:Send your resume, or get in touch for a confidential conversation before you commit to anything.Oliver Yarnold, Senior Recruitment Consultant — Data Center & Mission Critical, Flowtec Group📧 📱
