Senior Java Developer/Kafka Engineer

Tasks

• Support and operate enterprise Kafka clusters across on-prem and AWS environments
• Support migration and modernization initiatives to AWS MSK
• Automate infrastructure and configurations using Terraform and GitLab CI/CD
• Troubleshoot production issues, consumer lag, rebalancing & performance bottlenecks
• Collaborate with Java application teams on producer/consumer integrations
• Improve platform reliability, monitoring, security & scalability

Requirements

• 5+ Years in Data/Platform/Infrastructure Engineering, including 4+ Years operating Kafka in production
• Java: Strong hands-on development experience
• Apache Kafka / Confluent: Deep production experience
• AWS: Hands-on experience, especially AWS MSK
• Apache Kafka administration and production support
• Cloudera & Confluent Platform
• AWS MSK provisioning, configuration, IAM authentication & networking
• Kafka topics, partitions, replication, ISR, offsets & consumer groups
• Kafka performance tuning, troubleshooting & incident response
• Terraform & GitLab CI/CD
• Datadog monitoring, dashboards & alerting
• AWS: VPC, IAM, KMS, CloudWatch, Security Groups & PrivateLink
• Linux, Bash & Python scripting
• Strong, genuine hands-on technical candidates
• Engineers who can explain their previous projects, architecture, challenges, troubleshooting, and contributions in depth
• Excellent communication and collaborative problem-solving skills
