Special Education Teacher

About the role

Birch Agency is hiring a Special Education Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year in the Allendale, SC area. The teacher will provide push-in and pull-out services to 12 middle school students in grades 6-8. Hours are 7:30 am - 3:30 pm. Pay is $50/hour & dependent on experience.

Responsibilities

• Cooperate in developing a program of continuous progress consistent with District goals and objectives to meet pupils' needs, interests, and abilities.
• Keep abreast of changes in District policies and students' needs and interests.
• Establish clear and appropriate objectives for classroom activities and communicate them to students.
• Employ instructional methods and materials appropriate for meeting stated objectives.
• Assess student accomplishments regularly and provide progress reports as required.
• Analyze individual student progress regularly and seek appropriate assistance as needed.
• Cooperate with staff members in planning instructional goals, objectives, and methods.
• Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to pupils' maturity and interests.
• Plan and supervise purposeful assignments for teacher aides and/or volunteers and evaluate their performance.
• Provide adequate plans for substitute teachers and evaluate their performance.
• Seek parents' cooperation and assistance through oral or written communication and/or home visits.
• Be available to students and parents for education-related purposes when required or requested under reasonable terms.
• Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by state or federal law, District policies, and administrative regulations.
